LL-37 is the C-terminal 37-residue fragment of human cathelicidin hCAP18, and the only cathelicidin-derived peptide found in humans. Research interest spans two distinct areas: direct membrane-disrupting activity against bacteria, fungi and enveloped viruses in vitro, and separate receptor-mediated signalling roles in innate immune modulation, chemotaxis and epithelial barrier models.
